>>>SHIPWRECKS of LAKE CHAMPLAIN
Thursday - March 11th
7:00 PM


With over 300 wrecks in its dark, cold waters, Lake Champlain has witnessed feats of heroism and terrible tragedies.  Adam Kane of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum relates some of Lake Champlain’s most harrowing shipwreck stories from the Revolutionary War to the present day.  Take a memorable tour, through slides, drawings and video of what lies beneath the waves.

In the 1950s broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow hosted the two most popular news programs on television. He used his position to help end Senator Joseph McCarthy’s communist “witch-hunts” that were throwing the country into hysteria. Rated PG/2005

April 9 – ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN

This fascinating motion picture, based on the bestseller by Washington Post, accurately and precisely reenacts all the events, times, places, and people involved in the Watergate cover-up.  Rated PG/1976

 

 

April 16 – ABSENCE OF MALICE

A powerfully compelling drama exploring the influence of the printed media and the impact on the people it serves. An investigative reporter destroys the life of an innocent man with her careless "fact" gathering. Rated PG/1981

 

May 7 – THE PAPER

An all-star cast featuring Michael Keaton as an aspiring writer who finds himself in the middle of a possible Pulitzer Prize-winning story only to be continually distracted by a brutal, demanding editor, and his pregnant wife. Rated R/1994

 

May 14 – SHATTERED GLASS

Young journalist, Stephen Glass, was enjoying a meteoric rise to fame as a writer for the highly touted political magazine.  Later,  it was revealed that Glass had fabricated over half of the stories he had written including sources, quotes and even entire plot lines.  Rated PG-13/2003

Copies of the books are available to loan at the library.
 
Memorable Memoirs: Take Two
 
Memoirs come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common: They are not autobiographies.  Rather than a straight chronology of the author's life, memoirs hone in on a specific feature of that life.  The following memoirs use both traditional and unconventional formats to do just that.

The third Saturday of every month come to the community room to work on a featured craft project.  Or, feel free to bring whatever craft project you're working on and enjoy the crafting camaraderie!

On Saturday, February 20th, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM join us for a fun morning of Printmaking & Stamping.  Bring your favorite craft supplies.
