Circulation Services Coordinator – Hartland Public Library (Hartland, Vermont)
Part-time, on-site, 20-25 hours per week with one-to-two rotating Saturdays per month.
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Circulation Services Coordinator will support the mission of the library by providing excellent library service to patrons of the Hartland community. The person we are seeking is dynamic, friendly, and focused. This role is patron and customer service-focused, with an emphasis on circulation duties and projects that support library operations. The ability to multitask while maintaining a friendly attitude is essential. The Circulation Services Coordinator is part of a collaborative, engaged, busy, positive and forward-thinking team.
Responsibilities:
- Be a warm and welcoming presence at the circulation desk.
- Manage the circulation desk following the library’s policies and procedures.
- Assist patrons in finding items and answering questions related to the library’s technology platforms; assists with Reader’s Advisory.
- Assist with shelving of items; occasionally working with volunteer shelvers.
- Processes new library accounts and adds patrons to our outreach platforms.
- Works with the Youth Services Librarian to assist with family programming.
- Helps coordinate the library’s Community Room and exhibit spaces.
- Helps create and set up creative monthly book displays.
- Conducts regular shelf-reading and shelf maintenance.
- Ensures all welcome materials are printed and stocked.
- Assists with daily, end-of-the month, and yearly state statistical reporting.
- Assists with late materials processes and communications.
- Support library staff with special projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous library experience is desirable.
- Experience with ILS/OPAC platforms – HPL uses Koha and Aspen.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail and self-driven focus is a must.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills – in person, on the phone, and in electronic communications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to see, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, talk and hear.
- Physical dexterity to reach shelves of various heights, push library carts and lift (up to 30 lbs.).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Dexterity to perform data entry on a computer, laptop, iPad or other electronic device.
Benefits:
This position reports to the Library Director. The time commitment for this position is 20-25 hours per week, including one-to-two Saturdays per month. This position is eligible for part-time benefits as part of the Town of Hartland package, including paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, and personal leave.
This is a non-exempt, hourly position starting at $22.00/hr.
